Words as the focus - week 15 (52 cards challenge)

Week 15 of the 52 cards challenge was to have words as the main focus of the card.

I used a See D stamp cut out with deckle edged nestabilities.  The butterflies have been sitting in my odds and sods folder for ages and are leftovers from this misted layout - I knew I would one day get round to using them on a card.  The background paper is K&Co and the pearls are from The Hobby House.

I then made two Christmas cards -

Both sentiments are Stampin' Up and the fancy die cut mat is a Spellbinder die.  The background papers are both from magazine freebies.

Disney Days

For this layout I used the kit that I had put together for Jennifer Grace's 'Onwards and Upwards' blog event.  The photograph is one that my niece has given to me from her recent visit with her brothers to Disneyland.

I cut out the centre of the shaped paper and used the outer edge as a frame.  The butterflies were diecut with Cheery Lynn dies.  I have left the circle diecut blank so that my niece can write her own journaling.

Go Miniature - week 12 (52 cards challenge)

Oooops humble apologies - I just keep forgetting that I had run out of scheduled posts!!

Well we have now reached week 26 of the 52 cards challenge which is the half way mark and I have 6 weeks outstanding to catch up with it - I think actually this time last year I was a lot further behind so I am sure I will catch up eventually.

Here are the cards I made for Week 12 where the theme was to Go Miniature.  These little card blanks from Craft Creations are approximately 3 x 2 inches.

I used some mini stamps from Penny Black T for transparent sets and stamped directly onto the card and then coloured with Promarkers.  The sentiment is also by Penny Black.

I made a similar set of cards for the Christmas 52 cards challenge again using Penny Black T for transparent stamps.

I added a hint of Stardust Stickles to all the cards just for a little bit of sparkle.

Tea For Two - Sketchy Scrappers May

Our May challenge was to use this sketch -

I used some photographs of my parents in the hats they had made for a Mad Hatter's tea party at the sheltered flats complex where they live.

The papers are from a Sarah's Cards kit - Jillibean Soup 'Apple Cheddar', the title is Basic Grey 'Blush' alphabet stickers and the butterflies were punched with an EK Success punch.

Papers - Hot Off the Press
Dies - SU Framelits 'Label Collection', Spellbinders Nestabilities Circle & Scalloped Circle

Happy Birthday Mr P!!!

Today it is Mr P's 50th birthday!!  We went last week to see Paloma Faith as a pre-birthday celebration and next week we are having a family meal out to celebrate.  So today will be a quietish day and I will cook him one of his favourite dinner's tonight - Steak & Chips with Lemon Meringue Pie for pudding.  If anyone does pop round to visit today I do have a Lemon Overload Cake on standby.

As always I have made him a card and it fits nicely with this month's challenge on the Penny Black Saturday Challenge blog which is to make masculine cards.

The image is a Penny Black cling stamp 'Engineer' which I coloured with Promarkers (Almond, Putty, Pale Pink, Primrose, Denim Blue, Heatwave, Shale, Raw Sienna, Cocoa, Lipstick Red, Berry Red, Sand dune, Pastel Beige, Cool Grey 1-4, Ice Grey).  I stamped and coloured the image twice and then cut out and stuck over the base image using Pinflair gel.

Sentiments - PI Tinchies, Penny Black 'Sweet Wishes'.
Gems - jet black crystals from Triple07

My Month in Numbers - May

It is time once more to join in with Julie Kirk's Month in Numbers

May was a pretty busy month - we went away for 2 short breaks.  First one was to Leamington to visit R's family in Leicester and to see my 2nd favourite band after Marillion - Pendragon.

The 2nd trip was to Coventry so that R could go and see Rush at the NEC in Birmingham.  I went along for the ride and whilst he was at the gig I turned the hotel room into a craft room.  I was very productive that evening and got 24 cards made.

The room before I unpacked all my stuff
Just set up ready for card making
2 hours, 2 chocolate bars and 1 small bottle of wine later

The next day before travelling home, we met up with 2 lovely friends from Coventry, who are fellow Marillion fans.

I was pretty productive during May and got 9 layouts, 21 cards and 16 Christmas cards made.

I also managed to do some reading and managed 3 books -

If you would like to take part in My Month in Numbers then take a look here which explains how to join in.

All The Best Freaks Are Here

This is the May sketch from My Creative Sketches.

I used a mixture of  My Little Shoebox 'Trick or Treat' and Bella Boulevard 'Too Cute to Spook' with some photographs from my niece's horror themed fancy dress 21st birthday party.

The bats are a Sizzlet die and I embellished them with jet black gems from Tripple07.  I punched the stars with a Woodware punch and they are stitched to the page with black embroidery floss.  The alphabet is Santa's Workshop by Sizzix.  My title is a line from a Marillion song called 'Freaks'.

Snowman and Stars

This is the Christmas card that I made for week 19 - Texture (52 week card challenge)

I love this snowman stamp from Sugar Nellie and don't really use him as much as I should.  To incorporate texture into the card, I used two different embossing folders - an all over star pattern and a falling snow one directly behind the snowman.

The sentiment is by Stampin' Up and mounted on a SU label punch.

I coloured the snowman with Promarkers and used the following colours - Poppy, Forest Green, Gold, Mandarin, Cool Grey 1 & 4, Bluebell and China Blue.

I want to remember all of these little moments

Last week's challenge on UKS was to use the sketch below, use pink and/or blue and to either use a punch and/or stamp.

I used a Crafter's Workshop star mask and a Maya Road pearlescent shimmer spray to decorate my cardstock.

The photograph was taken on New Year's Eve whilst I was sat on the back deck of Boudicca waiting for the fireworks in Funchal, Madeira to go up at midnight.  Even though it had been a gloriously sunny and warm day, it was pretty cold at night so I was well wrapped up in my pashmina.

The diecut is MME Lost and Found and the crystal swirl is Zva creative, the smaller crystal stars are from Poundland.

Hexagons - 52 card challenge

Week 14 of the 52 card challenge was to use hexagons.  I knew straight away that this was the perfect challenge to use my new Stampin' Up hexagon embossing folder with a Pink Petticoat Bee digi-image.

The die cut buttons are a die-namics die and the orange bakers twine is from Sarah's Cards.

The octagon die is a Nestability die, the bees are coloured with a gold promarker and outlined in pastel blue.  I glittered the wings with Stardust Stickles.

Pixie

The May Scrapology challenge was to use this lovely sketch and hand-stitching on your layout.

I used papers and embellishments from the kit I had put together for the Onwards and Upwards blog event and a gorgeous photograph of my niece's beautiful dog Pixie.

I used a Technique Tuesday chipboard frame to draw round to make my stitched frames and the title is American Crafts Vinyl Thickers.  The punches used for the butterflies and foliage are Martha Stewart.  The little lace butterfly was from my stash.  The papers are a mixture of My Little Shoebox, American Crafts and WRMK.

I'm really not sure how my niece managed to get this photograph, Pixie is usually like a little whirlwind and the only time she is still is when she is sleeping.

Thank you Scrapology for a lovely challenge x
