Christmas Dinner

I'm so giddy with reaching my 1,000 th blog post, that I am doing two blog posts in one day!!  Not really - just being uber-unorganised and had forgotten that a challenge sketch I did last weekend needed to be uploaded by today at the latest.

I have used this sketch from Sue's blog

and combined it with the monthly house challenge on UKScrappers to use the colour prompt below

I was struggling a little using these colours and then I remembered that I had a half used pack of Basic Grey Wassail
I used Basic Grey Blitzen alphabet stickers for the title and the border strips are all from the Wassail pack.  The die cut snowflakes are from a Cuttlebug die and are lightly glittered with Diamond Stickles.

Going Dutch - Blog post 1,000

I haven't shared any layouts in ages so thought I should show you that I am still scrapbooking.

I did this one last weekend at the 12 hour crop and it was for the weekly challenge on UKScrappers.  The challenge criteria was to pick three things from this list -

1: use sketch
2: use square photo(s)
3: use 2 different Alphas
4: use 10 embellishments (these do not have to be the same)
5: use 3 or more patterned papers
6:use a love theme (could be someone you love/somewhere you love/something you love or using hearts or Valentine's day or a wedding etc etc)
7: use punched or die cut shapes

This was the sketch -

And this is my layout -

I also fulfilled criteria 2, 3, 5 and 7

This is the title page in my holiday album for a lovely long weekend we spent in The Netherlands. The papers used are a mixture of LilyBee 'Buttercup', Fancy Pants 'Be You' and scraps of Cosmo Cricket & My Little Shoebox (collections unknown).  The titles are Sizzlet die 'Naturally Serif' and Fancy Pants 'Park Bench' alphabet stickers.  The butterflies are diecut using All Occasion dies and the gemstones are from Dovecraft.

And as I scheduled this post I just happened to notice that this is my 1,000th blog post, it has taken just over 5 years to get here.  Here's to the next thousand blog posts!!!!!

My Month in Numbers 2015 - January

Before February completely disappears I had better blog my numbers from January.

January is always one of those quiet months for me, a chance to catch my breath after the busyness of Christmas and New Year.  One job I had been putting off all last year was putting my layouts away into their correct albums, so I spent 3 hours putting 58 layouts into 7 albums.

That then got me in the mood for organising and a job I had been planning for ages was to put all my dies onto magnetic sheets and store them in Stampin Up cling stamp cases.  It took 3 hours to condense 46 die sets into 9 cases.

And that is where the big re-organisation ended.  Up next is sorting all my small sentiment stamps into cases so that I don't keep losing them and to remove the small sentiments from large sets so that all my sentiments are stored together - I will put that off to another month!!

Once Christmas is out of the way I start getting really excited about things to look forward to in the New Year.  It is an odd numbered year and that can only mean one thing - Marillion conventions to look forward to.  Once again we are doing 2 conventions - the European one in The Netherlands and the UK one in Wolverhampton.  So I have 2 countdowns on the go - only 22 days till we will be in Port Zelande with all our lovely friends from around the world for 3 crazy days.  And it is 43 days till we do that madness all over again in Wolverhampton.

Craftwise I made 21 cards, 12 Christmas cards, 2 layouts and 5 Journal Your Christmas pages.

Valentines Card Part 3

And here is the final card that I made for Mr P this year.

Again another Penny Black stamp, I have had this one for a while now but haven't used it recently so it was time to get it inky again.

The backing paper is a magazine freebie and the image was coloured in with Promarkers.  The sentiment is by Crafty Impressions.

I am entering this card into the Penny Black Saturday Challenge for February which is hearts.

Valentines Day part 2

I've just realised that I haven't blogged the other cards that I made Mr P for Valentines.

I bought this stamp ages ago in a sale and only used it for the first time for my Dad's birthday earlier this month but whilst making that I thought it would make a nice Valentines card too.

The backing papers are magazine freebies and the speech bubble is a Joy crafts die, both the image and sentiment stamp are Penny Black.  I used the new Stampin Up heart border punch for the border and the bling is from my stash - it might be from Poundland.

I'm entering the card into the Penny Black Saturday Challenge  which this month is hearts.

Me on Monday

It's Monday so time to give a wave to Sian over at From High in the Sky.

The weekend was a 12 hour crop going, how many bags do you need?, getting time to do lots of layouts, fish and chip eating, catching up with friends kind of weekend.  Well that was the Saturday, Sunday was a more restful day.

And today, well it's back to the mundane, time to catch up with the laundry and only 11 sleeps till I go to my annual barn trip with a load of craft mad friends, so I am just starting to do a little bit of packing ready for that.

If you want to see what the other Mondayers are up to - head over to Sian's

Me on Tuesday

Yeah I know this should be Me on Monday but yesterday I had a technical glitch - a camera that refused to download to my laptop or Mr Ps PC with a SD card that is too small for the laptop or PC.  But today Mr P came to the rescue and found a laptop that would take a mini card!!!  So that is why I'm a day late, waving to Sian at From High in the Sky.

The weekend was a Valentines exchanging, hotel staying for a family wedding, red roses receiving, Okey Cokey as the bride and grooms first dance, garden centre visiting (hey Mr P look there is a Hobbycraft here!!), menu planning, food shopping online and going in a photo booth for the very first time kind of a weekend!!!!  A really busy one but such good fun!!!!

As described above Monday was a day of trying to get my photos back.  And Tuesday - well today has found me dealing with the delivery of the online shopping, almost three weeks worth - nearly 3 hours to put it all away properly, including a freezer fight with the chest freezer - I won and everything went in!!

Happy Valentines Day Mr P!!

This year I couldn't make my mind up about what sort of card to make Mr P for Valentines, so ended up making a couple of small cards.  Then last week a lady in one of my Facebook craft groups shared a beautiful card she had made using a Papermania Wellington Bear stamp and I knew I had found just the inspiration that I was looking for.  It then took a while to actually track down the stamp as it is not a current range.  First I found it on eBay, purchased it, only for two days later the seller refund me as she didn't actually have the stamp - errrrr what's that all about, selling stuff that you don't actually have!!!  In the end I found it on Amazon and it finally arrived on the 12th, giving me just enough time to use it.

For a change I didn't use my trusty Promarkers, I dug out some watercolour card and used my Derwent watercolour pencils.  I haven't used them since I made the switch to Promarkers and I had forgotten how lovely they are.

So thank you Hermine for your inspiration.

I will share the other cards later in the week, we are off to a family wedding later today and staying over in the hotel.  It is a rare treat to actually be doing something on Valentines as usually Mr P is working.

One Photo and Twenty Words

Time to join in with Abi's One Photo and Twenty Words

The first Sunday of the month is crop day.
A day spent with lovely people, being creative and having fun.

Me on Monday

It's Monday so it is time to give a wave to Sian over at From High in the Sky

The weekend was a kit packing, crop bag sorting, having a great Sunday with the girls and then fish and chips for afters kind of weekend.

Monday is all about laundry - lots and lots of it to catch up with, third load running as I type.  And now I am heading into the kitchen to rustle up cranberry and white chocolate cookies - all for the freezer, ready for our annual weekend in a converted barn with lots of my crafty friends - it is rapidly approaching so I need to get my finger out on the baking front.  With any luck later I can go back to colouring in images - Birthday and Easter cards need to be made this week.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today it is my lovely Dad's birthday and this is the card that I have made for him using Penny Black stamp 'London Calling'

I hadn't thought about it but Mr P asked if I had chosen this image because Dad can now speak on the phone after his successful cochlear implant last year.  The sentiment is also Penny Black, the border punch is Martha Stewart and the star punch is Stampin' Up.  The patterned papers are from the Craftwork Cards 'Love London' pad.

I am entering this card into the Penny Black and More at Allsorts February Challenge - 'Anything Goes'

Beat the Christmas Rush - January

Sorry I know it is only January but it is time for me to start sharing Christmas cards made for December 2015.  I always need at least 100 cards for my own needs plus over another 50 to sell for charity so I have to start early with them.  One thing that helped to keep me on track last year with making such a huge number was Sue's Beat the Christmas Rush

For my first batch of cards I have used some lovely digi-images from Pink Petticoat, I got a bit carried away and made 12 cards!!

I coloured the images with Promarkers and then lightly glittered them with a Wink of Stella pen or Stardust Stickles.

Then I die cut them with Die-namics stitched rectangle or square die and matted them onto red, green or gold cardstock.

Finally I embellished them with some sequins from my stash.

They are lovely and flat so perfect for going in the post.  If you want to get ahead for Christmas, then do think about joining in with Beat the Christmas Rush
