Me and Mr P

Challenge 6 for the ATDML cybercrop was Squeeze: Labelled with Love, make a love themed page.

I used an assortment of photos of Richard and I and Simple Stories 'The Story of Us' cut apart sheets.

The title was made with Sunrise AC Thickers, which I coloured with a sandstone Promarker and then covered with gold Stickles

Farewell Formal Evening

Challenge 4 for the ATDML cybercrop was Glen Campbell: Rhinestone Cowboy, use gems, bling, rhinestones on your layout.

On our last formal night on our 2014 cruise we had a group photo taken with our lovely dining companions.  I used Webster's Pages Make a Wish 'Live it Up' for the background paper.

I didn't have any crystal swirls in the right colour for the layout so I scanned and printed a couple of swirls and used those as a pricking template for the placement of the gemstones - I used gems from Majorcrafts - I was expecting this to be a quick and easy layout but it took over three hours in the end to glue all the gems in place!!

Beat the Christmas Rush - July Edition

Apologies for being a day late but I am finally here with this month's offering for Beat the Christmas Rush.

BTCR is all about getting ahead for Christmas by making a few cards each month so that you won't have to make them in a mad rush come November.

I have gone for a simple one layer card this month so that I can enter it into the one layer challenge over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge, I am also entering it into the challenge at Penny Black and More - Anything Goes with a Stamp.

Once more I delved into the bag of shame and pulled out a T for transparent set 'Holly Scroll' - a bargain I got in a sale but hadn't got inky yet.

Though a simple design, they were not quick cards to make as the stamp was pretty detailed and needed careful colouring with Promarkers.

The sentiment was from the same stamp set and I went round the edge of the design with a pastel blue promarker to help the image pop from the page.  The gemstones are from Majorcrafts.

If you would like to join in and share the Christmas cards that you have made then please add your blog link to the linky below.

Memorandum Monday

It is Monday so time to go and give Sian a wave over at From High in the Sky, welcome back from your holiday.

It was a very quiet weekend here - the weather was glorious so I finally got my tubs in the back garden finished, it isn't Kew Gardens but it gives some colour to the garden and I love sitting out here and looking at the pretty flowers.

I spent Saturday evening with my parents - no DVD this week as there was a Spiderman film on TV so we watched that - I don't usually like those comic book super hero kind of films but it was rather enjoyable.  I got another knitted penguin finished so my family of penguins for the fundraiser is growing, I will get a group photo done soon.

I also worked on my Beat the Christmas Rush cards - they aren't quite finished so if you came here today looking for BTCR I can only apologise and they will be finished tonight and I will blog them tomorrow.  Here is a sneak peek for now -

Today the weather has been lovely again - not too hot and a nice breeze which has made it the perfect day for line drying the washing -

I have a fairly quiet week ahead as far as appointments are concerned - there is plenty of laundry and housework to keep me busy and I need to start making some lists of what I need to do for my fundraiser in October - I have about 9 weeks left to get ready for it, best to get organised and not leave everything to the last minute!!  Have a great week whatever you are up to!!

So Fabulously Odd

Challenge 3 for the ATDML cybercrop was Coldplay: Yellow, feature a long title perhaps a lyric from a song.

I used some lyrics from Marillion's Separated Out as I thought they went really well with these photos - Am I Enough of a Freak to be Worth Paying to See.

The paper is Amy Tangerine Cut and Paste and the chipboard is Simple Stories Carpe Diem.  I used a mix of AC Thickers for the main title.  The Fabulously Odd is natural Sunrise Thickers coloured with Promarkers.

New Year Memento

Challenge 2 for the ATDML cybercrop was Sam Sparro: Black and Gold, use the colour scheme of black and gold.

I used leftovers from a couple of retreat classes for this challenge - the papers are Teresa Collins 'Glam Factor' and the gold stickers are Heidi Swapp. The gold heart vellum is by Stampin' Up.

Christmas Day Memories

Last weekend's ATDML cybercrop had a music theme.  The first challenge was Kaiserchiefs: Ruby, to use red or red rhinestones on a layout.

I used Prima Bella Rouge 'Les Amours' and a photograph from our first Christmas cruise in 2012.

The tickets are cut from Kaisercraft On Stage 'Applause', the blossoms are by Prima and the Zva Creative bling swirl was originally clear, so I coloured it with a Ruby Promarker to match the layout and cut it apart into two swirls.  The title is American Crafts glitter Thickers.

Memorandum Monday (except it is now Tuesday!!!!!!)

Ooops I'm a day late - I had my photos all ready to upload but was just so hot and in the end I couldn't be bothered to try and do a blog post - so here I am a day late!!

The weekend was a busy one taking part in the A Trip Down Memory Lane cybercrop from Friday evening onwards.  I try to join in every year as it is a great excuse to do some stash busting.  So apart from scrapbooking very little else happened over the weekend.   This was my view for the weekend -

So by Monday I had eight layouts that I was really happy with and I still have loads of classes for inspiration as I only managed 1 class and five out of the six challenges.

Much of Monday was spent restoring order to downstairs and getting a lot of my crafting supplies put away again upstairs.

Tuesday finds me about to get the air conditioning going (it is another scorchio day in GB) so that I can tackle the ironing pile monster.  Have a great week and I am off to give Sian a wave over at From High in the Sky

Happy 21st wedding anniversary

It is our 21st wedding anniversary today and as always I have made a card for Mr P.  I will be entering it into this month's challenge over at Penny Black and More which is Anything goes with a stamp

I used Penny Black 'Love and Roses'.

The papers are magazine freebies and I used a Stampin' Up framelit to cut the image out.  The image was coloured with promarkers and I used wink of stella on the roses to add subtle sparkle.

The sentiment stamps are Stampin' Up (Love You) and Stamps Away (Happy Anniversary).  The flowers were punched with SU punches and the foliage is a die which I think might be by Cheery Lyn.

Ten days before our wedding anniversary we celebrated our 24th anniversary of being a couple.  The cash cow joke is still running (see my Valentines post!!) so I dug out another one of my Penny Black cow stamps - 'From the Folks', the sentiment was printed on the computer.

The square die is MFT and the ovals are both SU punches, the glitter hearts were also made with a SU punch.

I'm currently drowning under a pile of papers and photos as the A Trip Down Memory Lane cybercrop has started this evening.  I will take a break when Mr P gets in from work to enjoy something pink and fizzy and we also have cream cakes in the fridge!!

Memorandum Monday

Another Monday has rolled around so it is time to hop on over to From High in the Sky and pay Sian a visit!!

It has been a pretty quiet weekend here as Mr P was working 12 hour night shifts all weekend.  I carried on quietly tackling the laundry monster - he has now been beaten into submission but that pesky ironing monster is taking a while to tame, the weather has just been so muggy it isn't comfortable to do more than an half an hour at a time.

Saturday evening I went to my parents and we watched The Hobbit part 1 whilst I busied myself sewing up soft toys that Mum has been knitting for our autumn fundraiser - I worked on some penguins this weekend, they are very fiddly with the wings, feet and beak and it takes quite a while just to sew one up.

Sunday I made sure I was parked on the sofa to watch the men's Wimbledon final with a glass of Pimms at the ready.

I wasn't disappointed with the result - well done Andy Murray and also a big well done to Heather Watson who won in the mixed doubles!!

I also made a good start on a wedding anniversary card - I need to get cracking with it as it is needed this week!!

Monday sees me looking forward to a busy week, a meal out with an old friend, a cinema visit and hopefully some time in the garden finishing off the tubs are all on the list for the week, plus a cyber crop by A Trip Down Memory Lane starting on Friday (so I definitely need to do some tidying in the boxroom so that I can get to all my stash easily!!)

One Layer Cards - Penny Black Saturday Challenge

The challenge this month over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge is One Layer cards.  I needed to make some quick thank you cards for Mr P after his birthday so came up with these, I made quite a few as you can never have too many thank you cards.

I stamped directly onto the card using a stamp from T for transparent set 'Sunny Days' and the sentiment is from a set called 'Critter Time'.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and used Stickles on the butterflies and the grass for a little sparkle.

Memorandum Monday

Helllllooooo Monday - have you missed me?  We got back from our Grand Scottish Road Trip last Monday but I discovered fairly soon after walking in that my laptop was dead!!  So I haven't so far been able to share much about the holiday - I am borrowing Mr P's PC to do today's post and hopefully fairly soon I might have a lovely new shiny laptop!!  The holiday was brilliant - I am having trouble adjusting to speeded up life - the pace is very slow on Orkney and even slower on Shetland - I am missing the simmer din, free range sheep all over the road and people who give you cheery waves when you pull over to let them pass you on the narrow single lane tracks - we had our cheery waves perfected by the end of the trip but they seem a little wasted down here in the deep south, people don't seem to appreciate them LOL!!

So this last week has seen me drowning under a pile of dirty washing - it was just too disheartening to photograph just how much washing two people generate in 15 days.  The good news is I have caught up with the washing and now the ironing monster has taken up residence - I will tame him slowly whilst I catch up with two weeks of recorded TV.  I had a break over the weekend from all the catching up with domestic stuff.  On Saturday I went to my parents to deliver little pressies and just have a catch up.  It was my turn to supply the wine so it seemed the ideal opportunity to try out the Orkney Raspberry liqueur that I had brought back - they did say in the shop that it went really nicely with fizz!!

The verdict - my Mum prefers her fizz plain but I really liked it!!

Sunday was a beautiful day - the sun was shining and we went out for the day with Mum and Dad as Mr P had a rare Sunday off (I made a bit of a boob when making plans for the weekend and completely forgot it was my crop weekend - can't believe I did that LOL but sometimes when the opportunity comes up to do family things you have to go with it!!).  Our first stop was Middle Farm near Firle for a light lunch and some retail therapy in the farm shop.  I got some lovely sausages - Wild Boar and Apple for me and Venison and Red Wine for Mr P - I think we will be having some sausage ploughman's for dinner.

Then we went on to Hadlow Down so that my grandparent's grave could be tidied up.  I went for a wander up to the little church - I was christened here and my parent's got married here almost 53 years ago.

A little drive round after that found us near Mayfield so we did an impromptu visit to an aunt and uncle and after a pleasant cup of tea in their garden we wended our way back home and had a meal out at a nearby pub.  A wonderful weekend and the perfect way to recharge our batteries ready to take on another week.

One of my main jobs this week is to sort the garden out - I had cleared out all the tubs before we went away and last week we managed to get a few bedding plants.  So today I have made a start making the back garden a little more colourful.

Hopefully next week I can share some photos of the finished garden.  The rest of this week involves a trip to town for some retail therapy, taming the ironing monster and my monthly scrap class.

Hope you all have a good week, I'm off to give Sian and the other Mondayers a wave over at From High in the Sky.  And a Happy 4th July to all my American blog readers xx
